Corporate Social Responsibility
We have been facilitating these kinds of programmes to ensure that they are well organised, properly pre-planned, and enable the required follow up to ensure that the impact is not lost.
Rather than a one-way ‘help’ exercise, Creative Teaming encourages a “cross-pollination” of ethics between visitors and the local community.
It is very important that some sort of organised structure backs up these programmes. This will help monitor and maintain the focus and impact of the intended input and investment and will ensure their continued benefit to the community through the finance of projects currently in progress, as well as to begin new ones throughout the coming year.
Here are some examples of the areas we have worked on:
- Provision of school curriculum books
- Water projects & plumbing. The laying of pipes; getting borehole, generators and tanks in place as well as pumps functioning. Installing connectors and tap points and testing systems before pumping water through these.
- Maintenance issues
- Painting and rejuvenation of buildings
- Playground equipment donation and painting
- Health and Medical initiatives
- Income generation: Chilli farming – one of the most innovative ideas yet, farmers are being encouraged to set up and plant a chilli patch around their food crops! The chillies are used both to prevent elephants from destroying food crops (dried chillies mixed with dung to make briquettes to burn at night and with grease or oil to grease a “chilli fence”) and to earn the farmer extra cash (chillies are sold at $1 per kg). This idea will help more farmers protect their food crops and generate income.
Cansaf will also include a fun element encouraging interaction with the community, eg:
- A football match
- Local village games
- Interaction with the village community – where visitors will have the chance to engage by helping with household chores, assisting with the building of local housing, learning about various cultural traditions in the area.
- These types of interactions help to break down cultural barriers and language barriers as well as provide visitors with an opportunity to give back to the communities of the countries they visit.
