The SATIB 20/20 Invitational 11 Tourism Cricket Tournament This very worthwhile cause started off in 2007 to raise awareness for the Gotovictoriafalls.com campaign, along with awareness of the VF Anti Poaching Unit - using an informal friendly cricket match between Victoria Falls and Durban as the vehicle. Held at the Crusaders Club in Durban North on the Friday afternoon prior to the Indaba Travel Trade Exhibition, the Vic Falls team first took the honours, which left the Durban team seeking revenge. The 2008 tournament was taken more seriously, with a logo, team shirts and a floating trophy being produced. Sponsorship was also secured from read on... ![]() SAB Miller, SATIB Risk Solutions and Savage, Jooste and Adams Attorneys, which all helped to bring the tournament to a new level. Players and spectators alike were well lubricated on the field with refreshments dispensed from an antique 3-wheel bicycle, which ensured that everyone had a fun filled day, followed by a "boerie braai", beers and rugby viewing at the Crusaders club house after the game. The 2008 floating trophy was presented to the winning Durban team at the SATIB Indaba party at Joe Cools located on Durban's Golden Mile on the Monday evening. If e-mails flying between the Vic Falls and Durban teams in preparation of the 2009 SATIB 20/20 Invitational 11 Tourism Cricket Tournament is anything to go by, this year promises to be sterling event. An excerpt from Ross Kennedy's e-mail says it all; "We will ensure that we come armed with a full squad next year and not need to borrow players from you guys…although your 2 players assisted us rather well as it turned out…thanks!!" To raise funds for the Vic Falls Anti Poaching Unit SATIB have taken the lead by pledging R1 500.00 to this worthy initiative and challenge the tourism trade and their suppliers to match or exceed their pledge.
